There is something about the singular that intrigues me...the context of a solo
blossom, a lone feather and their resulting lines, shapes, color changes and symmetry,
or lack thereof. I rely on muted backgrounds, pairing them with a singular species to convey the
movement and emotion of each flower. I work from photographs, manipulating them in Photoshop
when desired before using a size 0 brush to work my way across the canvas. Each small section must come to life before I move forward. It is a meditation for me, a chance to slow my view of the world, and drink in the details of something simple, yet so complex.
